Very fancy, clean place. The server was polite and personable, despite the restaurant being so full. The food was served fast and tasted wonderful. The only downsides to this place is the business (waited 2 hours to get a seat without a reservation-- so do that!) and the price (expensive).
We wanted to eat more local, so we came here based on their description as a the best steak house and family restaurant. My partners New York strip came overcooked and when we tried sending it back the server said "no... That is a medium rare". After an awkward glance at each other, the server took it back to get another. Seasonal vegetables were just steamed broccoli and cauliflower. When the NY strip came back, it was clearly better. The first one didn't even have the smell of charred meat. Why send mediocre food at that price point? We actually wished to have just gone to the keg instead.
Great place for lunch where you can get a good quick bite that's not expensive. I've never been for dinner, but I've never had any problems with the food, staff has always been very friendly and I've always gotten a seat right away. Really like their chicken sandwiches!
Just finished my meal. Still seated. Can't move because I'm way too stuffed. My family of 7 is all Satisfied and full. We received excellent service and even better food. We ordered a variety of food. Burgers, salads, wraps and grilled chicken. All good. Friendly staff. Nice lodge feel with live lobsters for viewing (or eating). Good prices. Not much more to expect. Gonna try the breakfast.
Normally a fan of Melissas Steakhouse as we have been going yearly since 2011. This August (2018) we attended and were somewhat disappointed. To begin, it appeared that the prices had increased significantly. While I normally get a steak (after all it is a steakhouse) the prices were in the $50 range. So I passed on that. We ended up ordering some different items off the menu, which were good I might add, simply due to the prices and we are a family of four so I am somewhat price conscious. The service was okay but not great. It wasnt overly busy when we arrived and more than once I had to get our servers attention as the server was not coming around to check up on us. Finally, as I am travelling with children who order off the kids menu, I was disappointed that their drinks were not included in the price and when I asked for a refill on their drinks (milk), I was told that they were not complimentary. I am normally an average tipper (15-20%) but when I feel that Im being nickel & dimed I dont feel like tipping. I know its not the servers fault but I tip on the overall experience and perhaps management will want to reevaluate the benefit of keeping customers happy versus some of the issues raised in this review. All in all, I will come back next year as I stated earlier that we are long time fans and maybe our latest experience was just a one off.
